Our command staff is responsible for assisting the Sheriff with managing and maintaining the staff of the Sheriff's Office. This is done by providing the information and resources needed for the deputies to successfully protect our community each day.
The investigations department consists of two highly trained detectives. These positions have been dedicated to solving criminal cases within the county. Countless solved cases and recovered property derive from hours of interviews, observations, research, and evidence processing.
Our patrol units are responsible for policing the Nelson County area, as well as serve court papers including arrest warrants, civil & criminal summons, subpoenas, and eviction notices. All of the deputies have successfully completed the Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy. They also possess various specialized skills acquired through additional training.
It is the responsibility of the Sheriff's Office to provide security within the judicial center, as well as provide transportation for prisoners awaiting trial. They can also be used as bailiffs within the courtroom.
The office staff within the NCSO is responsible for the administrative portion of the department. This includes processing warrants, subpoenas, civil process, criminal complaints, eviction notices, concealed carry licenses, vehicle inspection paperwork, reports, county taxes, evidence technician and more. Our office staff makes operations within the department efficient and organized.
